Designed for imaginative young minds, this course uses Scratch, a block-based programming tool developed by the MIT Media Lab to give young students a hands-on first try at programming.

Students learn key computer science concepts such as sequences, loops, conditionals and abstraction through building their own fun projects of animated stories and multimedia games.

Guided by our team of professionally trained instructors at each step, students are encouraged to design and create creative games, and to think deeper about the programming processes powering apps and games they use daily.

Scratch: Algorithm Composing

This section provides a deep dive for students familiar with Scratch programming to solidify their understanding of key computer science concepts.

Through creating more advanced and interactive games and projects, students familiarise themselves with using concepts such as sequences, loops, conditionals, abstraction and object-oriented programming.

Systematic programming is also introduced, paving the way for more integrated learning with hardware at the higher levels.

Hardware linked programming with mBot

Following Scratch, students apply learning outcomes to programming commands for actual physical objects! Combining quick feedback and iteration programming in Scratch, students also start to understand abstract programming concepts through tangible representation from robots.

Using mBot, an Arduino-based, extensible robot kit, students create commands to follow lines, push objects, create useful LED displays and more, to practice key computer science concepts such as loops and conditionals.
